On March 10, 40 choir singers left at 5:50 a.m. to Oahu, Hawaii.  Singers from five other schools attended the trip and sang at the USS Missouri Memorial.

“This trip is mainly to have fun, but also as a way for all the choirs to come together,” choir director Annara Whitcher said.

The trip lasted six days filled with fun activities like attending a luau, going on an island tour, and taking a trip to the Hard Rock Café. Most of the time, students were permitted free time where they could do most anything, with check-ins to make sure they were safe. The seniors on the trip even had their own excursion.

“I had tons of fun on the senior excursion,” senior Maya Delao said. “We went snorkeling and spent the day on a beach just for us.”

Choir directors plan a trip every two years. Directors from each school plan a big trip to a different place each time.

“Hawaii was a once in a lifetime thing,” sophomore Grace Cornish said. “It was really a fever dream. It was so much fun.”

This trip wasn’t cheap, costing close to $3,000. Students had to make monthly payments towards this trip. Choirs raised money via fundraisers like selling poinsettias during the winter season.
